How to Upgrade/Downgrade an account in WHM?

When creating cPanel accounts for packages setup within Web Host Manager (WHM), you can use these same packages for upgrading and (or) downgrading accounts. Let’s say for example you have one package that offers 1 addon domain while another offers 10, instead of manually adjusting this number, you can upgrade the cPanel account to the new package. By this upgrading or downgrading action all other values will be adjusted to reflect the new modification.

We will learn how this is done in detail with images of each step and a complete WHM video on this. Click on How to upgrade/downgrade an account in WHM? to watch the flash video.

  1. Be logged into WHM and click on Account Function.select-accounts-fuction-link
  2. Then click the Upgrade/Downgrade an Account link.upgrade-or-downgrade-an-account
  3. Let’s upgrade the mynewtestdomain.com account.select-the-account
  4. Click Modifyclick-on-modify
  5. Note the mybiz123 appended to the beginning of the package name. That is the username of this WHM reseller plan’s main account, and indicates that the silver package was created solely for the use of this reseller plan. The packages listed here at the top (without mybiz123 in front) are global packages created by the root user of this server. Currently the mynewtestdomain.com account is setup as a silver package as shown here. Let’s upgrade this account to the RES-5 package.RES-5-package-in-whm
  6. Click Upgrade/Downgrade.click-on-upgrade-downgrade-button
  7. That’s it! The mynewtestdomain.com account has been upgraded to the RES-5 package.
